Connecting college to careers
Internships are a partnership between an employer, the college and a student, designed to ‘connect college to careers’ by combining academic study and meaningful work experience that results in developing marketable skills and preparing for a successful career. Internships provide students with experience related to their academic and career goals that is guided, evaluated and supervised by professionals.
Internships can be paid or unpaid, full-time or part-time and normally coincide with the fall, spring or summer term.
EMPLOYERS:
Employers are invited to participate in the Higher Education Internship Program at one of our local colleges and universities.
This is a Great Opportunity to…
~ Work with enthusiastic and talented students who can introduce new ideas and fresh insights
~ Satisfy short-term staffing needs for one-time or special projects and seasonal jobs, freeing permanent employees to do more advanced or higher priority work.
~ Reduce recruitment and training costs should an intern be ‘converted’ to a career position following the internship.
~ Evaluate prospective employees under working conditions before making permanent hiring decisions
~ Form a partnership with local colleges and universities that complements organizational or corporate goals which focus on community involvement
~ Prepare, influence and evaluate the future professional workforce for your field
STUDENTS:
In today’s job market, a certificate or degree alone is often not enough. Employers want experience even from recent college students. How do you get experience By getting an internship!
